Implementation of the plan for third year will begin by the Education Ministry with the start of the 2013-2014 school year late September.
The plan aims to help the fulfillment of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s demands for training 10 million Quran memorizers in the country,
Some 3.5 million students, teachers and education ministry staff have signed up to take part in the plan during the first year and some 2 million of them went on to learn from half a Juz (part) to 30 Juzes of the Quran.
The participants in the plan received certificates based on the level of their memorization. The Minister of Education signed the certificates for 700,000 students attending the plan.
They had been planned to receive awards as well but due to lack of budget, many of the memorizers did not get their awards.
In the second year (2012-2013) the number of participants exceeded 4 million, including 500,000 new ones.
According to Mohammad Bonyadi, Director General of the Education Ministry’s Quran, Etrat and Prayers Department, those willing to register for the third year of the National Quran Memorization Plan can sign up online with the beginning of the new school year.
