
The MoU was signed by Pakistani Secretary of Information and Broadcasting Nazir Saeed and Head of the Iranian Academy of Persian Language and Literature Gholam Ali Haddad Adel at a ceremony in Islamabad, the Islamic republic news agency reported.
Under the MoU both countries will grasp benefits of development of technology in the field of typography and other different aspects of the language.
In the ceremony, Haddad Adel said that the MoU would help both countries save their national languages from the influence of foreign languages.
He said that Persian is the matter of pride for Iran and Urdu has the same value for Pakistan. He added that MoU would further enhance the cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
Saeed termed the MoU as milestone in promoting the Urdu and Persian languages.
He said three more MoUs on promotion of cultures will soon be signed between Pakistan and Iran.
Pakistan is hosting the three-day Asian Parliamentary Assembly which kicked off in Islamabad on Sunday.
Some 200 delegates including speakers‚ vice-speakers and parliamentarians of the member countries‚ are present at the meeting.
The session is being hosted by the Senate of Pakistan. Theme of the session is Asian Century: Cooperation in Economy‚ Energy and Environment.
