Ayatollah Shahroudi calls for vigilance of Israeli plots against Muslims

The vice-chairman of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, Ayatollah Sayyed Mahmoud Hashemi-Shahroudi, said on Sunday that the world, especially Muslims, must be made aware of Tel Aviv’s role in the creation and spread of extremist groups in the Middle East.

Addressing a local gathering in the holy city of Qom, Ayatollah Shahroudi underscored that the Zionists are trying to uproot Islam.

He went on to say that the Israelis are seeking to tarnish the image of Islam by creating Takfiri terrorist groups.

Ayatollah Shahroudi pointed out that the Zionists are trying to undermine the Islamic resistance against Israel, distort the Islamic Awakening and damage Islam’s position in the world,

Earlier this month, Iranian Parliament Speaker Dr Ali Larijani called for unity among Islamic sects, and warned of the continued foreign plots to sow discord and tensions in the Middle East.

“The presence of foreign elements in the region who aimed at damaging Muslims’ coexistence [and unity] is the main cause of the present tensions in the Middle East,” Dr Larijani said.

In relevant remarks in November 2013, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, urged the Muslim ummah (community) to be vigilant of the enemies of Islam as they are hatching plots to stir sectarian strife among Muslims.
